McNeilus to showcase innovative solutions, industry support at Waste Expo

North America’s first fully integrated, electric refuse -collection vehicle and McNeilus’ exclusive ePTO technology will be among the featured solutions, with 14 McNeilus vehicles on display.

DODGE CENTER, Minn. (April 20, 2023) – McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing, Inc. will spotlight its innovation, expertise and refuse collection solutions designed to move the industry and customers forward at Waste Expo 2023. The annual convention and tradeshow takes place May 1-4 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.

New advancements in electrification, telematics, automation and other refuse collection solutions will be featured in McNeilus booth #2429 The following are a few highlights attendees can expect to see.

  • The Oshkosh® fully integrated zero-emission electric refuse collection vehicle, a first in North America, establishes a new product category and brings advanced technology to the refuse industry. This vehicle is purpose-built with numerous driver-centric features, including active safety systems, a 5-star direct visibility rating, 360-degree camera, object detection, streamlined controls with a 15-inch touchscreen display and, on average, 38% more space in the cab. Announced in February, the Oshkosh fully integrated electric refuse collector will be shown to a broad audience for the first time at Waste Expo.

  • The McNeilus® Meridian™ Front Loader with Latitude™ residential collection system will showcase how the company has transformed front loader collection. Reinforcements to specific body components and streamlined hydraulics provide performance and efficiency upgrades. The McNeilus-exclusive Latitude™ residential collection system features quick disconnect and a dynamic load stabilizer offering drivers’ ground clearance advantages, combined with the Perkins automated carry can with a 400-pound lift capacity and a large 4.2-yard hopper.

  • McNeilus® ePTO (electric power takeoff) technology, featured on the company’s Extra Compaction Rear Loader, showcases a unique self-contained system optimized and dedicated to powering body functions for consistent performance, no matter the electric chassis brand. Common component placement, most notably with the high-voltage disconnect, and consistent service parts across product models streamlines maintenance and training. McNeilus ePTO technology meets zero-emission regulations and, for added sustainability, the ePTO Rear Loader featured in the McNeilus booth is made with SSAB Fossil-free steel.

  • Waste Expo attendees will also get a look at McNeilus’ exclusive CartSeeker™ Curbside Automation technology and ClearSky™ by McNeilus® telematics through multiple interactive displays in its booth.

“We’re focused on driving the refuse collection industry forward,” said Lee Dreas, vice president and general manager, at McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing. “We’re looking forward to meeting with customers and partners at Waste Expo to talk about how we can support their current needs and prepare them for the future as our industry continues to evolve and transform.”

McNeilus continues to provide customers with premier refuse collection solutions, which will be reflected by the 14 McNeilus® truck bodies on display and featured in partner booths throughout the exhibit hall, including a McNeilus® ePTO Zero Radius™ Automated Side Loader in booth #1337.

Continuing to sustain and support industry partnerships is a key priority for McNeilus. Aligned with this priority, the company is once again donating to the Environmental Research and Education Foundation’s (EREF) annual charitable auction at Waste Expo. This year’s auction will feature a McNeilus Atlantic Series Front Loader® on a Mack TerraPro chassis. In addition, the auction will include a McNeilus® Heavy Duty Rear Loader donated by Rush Refuse Systems and another McNeilus Atlantic Series Front Loader® donated by BTR.
